Privacy Policy

1. The short version

The Site is a brochure. It does not require an account, it sets no advertising cookies, and it does not sell or share your personal information for advertising. We keep what you send us when you write to us or ask to join the list, and the ordinary technical logs any website produces. That is the whole of it.

2. What we collect

We collect information in three ways:

• Messages you send us. When you email hello@maneko.ai or another Maneko address, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and the content of your message.
• The list. When you ask to be told about launches, we keep the email address you give us and the date you gave it.
• Technical logs. Our hosting provider records the IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of each request, as every web server does. We may look at these logs in aggregate to see how the Site is used and to keep it running.

We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers on the Site. If that changes, this policy will say so and, where the law requires it, we will ask for your consent first.

3. How we use it

We use the information above to:

• reply to you;
• tell you about launches and news you asked to hear about;
• keep the Site secure, available and working;
• understand, in aggregate, how the Site is used;
• comply with the law and enforce our terms.

We do not build profiles of visitors, and we do not use your information to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

4. AI agents read and reply

Much of Maneko's work is done by AI agents, and that includes handling mail. A message you send to a Maneko address may be read, categorised and answered by an agent, using AI models operated by third-party providers. Those providers process the content of the message in order to produce a reply and are contractually restricted from using it for their own purposes. A person is responsible for the company and can read any thread. If you would prefer that no automated system handles your message, say so in the message and it will be routed to a person.

5. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with service providers who process it on our behalf and under our instructions, namely:

• our hosting and content-delivery provider, which serves the Site and stores the technical logs;
• our email provider, which delivers mail to and from Maneko addresses and holds the list;
• AI model providers, as described above, for the content of messages they help answer.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect the rights, safety or property of Maneko or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy continues to apply to the information until it is changed.

We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, as those terms are defined in California law.

6. How long we keep it

Messages are kept for as long as the conversation is useful to answer and for a reasonable time after, and then deleted. Your address stays on the list until you ask to be removed or until we retire the list. Technical logs are kept by our hosting provider for a short rolling period, typically no more than a few weeks.

7. Your choices and rights

You can ask us at any time to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to stop sending you mail. To leave the list, reply to any message we send you or write to hello@maneko.ai. We will respond within the time the law allows, and we will not treat you differently for exercising a right.

If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the rights described above, the right to know the categories of information we collect and the purposes we use it for (which this policy sets out), and the right to opt out of sale or sharing, which we do not do. You may designate an agent to make a request for you; we will verify the request before acting on it.

If you live in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we process your information on the basis of our legitimate interest in running the Site and answering you, or your consent where you joined the list. You also have the right to object to processing, to ask for a copy of your data in a portable form, and to complain to your local data protection authority. Because we are located in the United States, your information is transferred there; we rely on standard contractual clauses or other lawful mechanisms for that transfer where required.

8. Children

The Site is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to hello@maneko.ai and we will delete it.

9. Security

The Site is served over HTTPS, and the providers listed above hold their own security certifications. We limit access to personal information to the systems and people that need it. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. If a change is material, we will make that clear on the Site, and where the law requires it we will ask for your consent.
